    President Gu Yu Led a Delegation to Laos, Thailand, and Kazakhstan for Educational Exchange Visits

    To thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the National and Provincial Education Conferences, and to actively integrate into the construction of Yunnan Province’s South Asia and Southeast Asia hub, Wenshan University has expanded its educational cooperation with universities along the "Belt and Road" countries. This aims to enhance education connectivity and promote the development of international educational exchanges and the integration of education and industry.

    From February 17 to 25, 2025, President Gu Yu led a delegation of Wenshan University to visit universities in Laos, Thailand, and Kazakhstan, along with representatives from the Ministry of Education's Center for International Cultural Exchange, domestic universities participating in the Jingshi project, and project enterprise representatives. The delegation participated in various exchange activities related to international cultural exchanges and industry-education integration.

    Laos Visit

    During the visit to Laos, the delegation visited several institutions, including the Pakpasak Technical College and the Laos Railway Vocational Technical College.  They inspected the construction of the “Jingshi Institute” and attended the China-Laos Forum on Cultural Exchange and International Industry-Education Integration. Wenshan University and Pakpasak Technical College reached a preliminary consensus on educational cooperation and exchange, with plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in accordance with the regulations of both countries.

    Thailand Visit:

    From February 19 to 22, the delegation visited Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna , and Chiang Mai University. They also visited the Office of the Vocational Education Commission under Thailand’s Ministry of Education and the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and held discussions with representatives of Chinese enterprises in Thailand.At the China–Thailand Forum on Cultural Exchange and International Industry-Education Integration hosted by Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, President Gu Yu introduced Wenshan University’s educational achievements, shared practices in international cooperation and industry-education integration, and expressed a strong interest in developing deep partnerships with Thai universities.




    Through forums and dialogues such as the China–Thailand Industry-Education and Cultural Exchange Dialogue, the delegation engaged with leaders from Thai universities, the Vocational Education Commission, the Federation of Thai Industries, and enterprises. They gained insights into the educational characteristics of Thai institutions, the implementation of Jingshi Institute in Thailand, the development of vocational education, and the needs of Thai students to study in   China.Discussions were also held with officials from the Bureau of Vocational Education Standards, the Cooperation Bureau, and the Bureau of Education and  Professional Capacity Development, as well as with leaders from eight vocational institutions including Prachuap Technical College and Lamphun Technical     College. The parties jointly explored new models of international cooperation in skill-oriented talent cultivation. Additionally, the delegation visited Chinese     and Thai-Chinese joint ventures to investigate talent needs and discuss collaboration between government, academia, and industry in promoting intelligent and  digital talent development, laying a solid foundation for further cooperation in international applied talent training between Wenshan University and        Thai institutions.

    Kazakhstan Visit:

    On February 23, the delegation left Thailand and traveled to Kazakhstan. On February 24, they visited the International Engineering and Technology University of Kazakhstan and the ZTE Kazakhstan Branch. The delegation attended the China-Kazakhstan cultural exchange and international industry-education integration seminar and the unveiling ceremony of the Jingshi Institute at the International Engineering and Technology University of Kazakhstan. They also participated in discussions on China-Kazakhstan enterprise-university cultural exchanges and international industry-education integration.

    The delegation learned about the educational situation at the visited institutions and investigated the demand for Chinese international education in Almaty, Kazakhstan, as well as the talent needs of Chinese enterprises in Kazakhstan. They also discussed new models for the joint cultivation of applied talents in China and Kazakhstan, focusing on the collaboration between universities, enterprises, and governments.






       

    This visit, organized with the Ministry of Education's Center for International Cultural Exchange, universities involved in the Jingshi Institute, and project enterprise representatives, has expanded Wenshan University’s perspective on international educational cooperation. It also helped explore innovative approaches to the training of internationalized, application-oriented talents, facilitating the university’s integration into the “Belt and Road” development strategy and accelerating its internationalization process.
